Time-telling wrist accessories

There have been many discussions as to what is the best invention of all time. A strong argument can certainly be made for those time-telling wrist accessories, otherwise known as watches.

There have been many inventions over the years. Some say that loin coverings were the very first invention as Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves up. There have also been many other inventions of great significance both at the time they were made and in the modern day. These include paper made almost 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt, silk first made by the Chinese over 4,000 years ago and the lever which was first described by Greek mathematician Archimedes – the lever idea has been put into practice in many household tools including scissors and nutcrackers.

As time has moved on, more inventions have come about including the pencil, light-bulbs, various vehicles and in the more modern day computers. One invention that sometimes escapes peoples mind is that of a watch. Many centuries ago, people used the sun to tell the time but this was only possible when it was actually sunny. As a result a great effort was made to be able to tell the time and as a result the clock was invented. Clocks initially, were made very big and it was not practical to walk around with them. As such, the pocket watch was later invented which was a clock hanging from a chain. Although this was an extremely good idea at the time, technologies improved and the cost of creating a miniature watch was largely reduced.

This ended the reign of the pocket watch and paved the way for a new time-telling device now known as the watch. The watch is a very clever device as it can be wrapped around a person’s wrist and fastened onto it. This makes it extremely easy for people to tell the time as they can simply hold their wrist up to their face and read the time off of it.

Today, there are many other ways to tell the time. Many people today work in an office and will therefore have regular use of a computer. There is a little clock in the bottom right hand corner of the screen – providing the toolbar is at the bottom of course – that gives the time by the minute. There are many other time-telling devices too including mobile phones, music players and alarm clocks. There are however, no devices as easy to tell the time as the watch.

This time-telling wrist accessory is therefore extremely useful to anyone that owns one and will continue to be for many years to come. Furthermore, this time-telling wrist accessory is therefore arguably one of the best inventions ever to be made. Although it didn’t start out as it has ended, the ability to be able to know the time with one simple movement is something which will live on for many years to come. The watch will prove to be a very valuable asset for many years to come.
